Pensioner drowns in Lake Faak

Tourists located in Carinthia's Lake Faak yesterday (Weds) had to watch as a pensioner from Lower Austria drowned in front of them.
The tragedy happened near the "Anderwald" camping space around 10am when, after hearing screams coming from the lake, tourists on the shore raised the alarm.
It became clear that a man was in difficulty in the water and the boat was sent out to help him.
They managed to pull his lifeless body onto the boat and attempted to resuscitate him, but after an hour had to accept that the man had died.
It appears that he may have had a heart attack while swimming according to medics had arrived at the scene.
Sixty-four people drowned in Austria last year, according to Statistik Austria.
